I'm Daniel
Who I am
A child of the outdoors, musician, writer, and budding cannabinoid & other plant medicine enthusiast. In my career, I am a collaborator to those seeking support in understanding the mental health needs of historically underresearched, underresourced, and marginalized communities (e.g., Black, Brown, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+ folx, immigrants, poly/kinky folx). I am also a Clinical Psychologist licensed in Illinois & Washington, DC and possess an E. Passport & Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology via the PSYPACT Commission; this means that I am able to provide teletherapy to folx in PSYPACT participating states across the US.
My Philosophy
We are all oriented to living in alignment, even when our worlds are out of balance; I view psychotherapy, coaching & consulting as pathways to reconnect with ourselves and with those around us. I believe that conscious & compassionate contemplation, relational nurturance, and self-responsible skill building & action are essential to developing consistent & committed rituals to individual wellness & organizational health. I also believe that the systems in which we participate and exist impact how we experience the world; I integrate this understanding into how I establish relationships with clients, how we approach goal setting, and how we reimagine & redefine what healing can be. My primary purpose is to craft an emotionally intimate container in which we explore, play & prepare for the life that you are designing.
Working With Me
I speak from lived experience; personally, as a Black/Afro-Trinidadian, Queer, Trans, Immigrant with deep reverence for ancestral, elder & community wisdom, and professionally, as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with academic & clinical training in inpatient care, federally qualified community health, university counseling & private practice. Whether I'm in the role of therapist, coach or consultant, I am curious, culturally responsive, emotion-focused, insight-oriented and most importantly, relational. I am empathic yet direct, unafraid to ask uncomfortable questions, especially if that inner tension leads to meaning making and growth. As my commitment to reciprocity, I make space for the mutual sharing of conscious & critical feedback, to ensure our work remains beneficial to you & your goals.
